Workshop #3:

The city as a cultural space: local cultural offerings

21 March 2023, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., digital

Not only does culture take place in large cultural institutions in the city centre, but also in many other bigger and smaller locations throughout the city. This vast and widespread network of decentralised cultural offerings provides a variety of important tasks at the crossroads of local cultural services, educational cultural work, and socio-culture, thus making cultural offerings available for a wide range of target groups – such as children and families, young people, senior citizens and people with refugee experience. In our third workshop we will ask how we can improve the visibility of the different offers or suggestions and increase networking of individual organisations. We will also look into which formats of outreach cultural work with young people are particularly up-to-date and how the socio-cultural centres can be strengthened in their role as neighbourhood meeting places.

Questions:

1st How can the visibility of decentralised cultural offerings be strengthened both digitally and also locally in neighbourhoods?

2nd How can the networking of various participants in the local cultural offerings (cultural institutions, educational institutions, youth and social institutions, neighbourhood centres etc.) be promoted? What potential do you see in such networking?

3rd From your point of view, which programmatic approaches of outreach cultural work in the city districts are suitable in strengthening cultural participation among young people? What formats would be appropriate and what cultural institutions could we cooperate with?

4th What aspects should be considered in the further development of socio-cultural venues such as the “Milchsackfabrik”, the “Offenes Haus der Kulturen” or the “Netzwerk Seilerei” in order to strengthen their roles as meeting places in the city’s neighbourhoods?
