Workshop #16:

Cultural Administration in the Future

25 May 2023 ∙ 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. ∙ online

The Bureau of Cultural Affairs is the key contact point in Frankfurt’s cultural life, where many threads come together and whose organisation and working methods set important framework conditions for culture in the city. Constant further development within the Cultural Administration is therefore of crucial importance when it comes to promoting and enabling transformation processes in Frankfurt’s cultural landscape. In our workshop, we will therefore explore the question of what aspects concerning the development within the Cultural Administration should be included. We will also look at how cultural urban development in Frankfurt can be improved and what function the Cultural Administration could fulfil in this process. In addition, the workshop will ask about suitable offers to promote transformation processes in cultural institutions and about discourse, communication and consultative formats through which the Cultural Administration could support the conceptual development of independent cultural institutions.

This kep.workshop will address the following questions:

1st From your point of view what aspects should an organisational development of the Cultural Administration include?

2nd What ideas do you have on promoting cultural urban development in Frankfurt? In this context, what could be the role of the Cultural Administration?

3rd Through what formats of discourse, communication and consultation could the Cultural Administration promote the conceptual development of independent cultural institutions?

4th What services could be offered to support cultural institutions in their transformation processes? What role could the Cultural Administration play in this context?
