Dialogue Between Culture and Politics
23 May 2023 ∙ 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. ∙ online ∙
The call for more participation in cultural policy decisions is constantly gaining importance in Frankfurt’s cultural life offering the opportunity to include a wide range of interests, needs and expertise in decision-making and to encourage more acceptance of decisions within Frankfurt’s diverse urban society. Cultural actors in particular are looking for a more intensive exchange with municipal politicians in order for them to contribute their experience and knowledge. In our workshop we ask: How can Frankfurt’s urban society be involved in cultural policy decisions in the future? What could be the significance of a city-wide dialogue between those participants who are active in cultural education and politics? What formats do you think are suitable for promoting the exchange between culture and politics and what function should it fulfil?
This kep.workshop deals with the following questions:
1st In your view, what formats would be desirable to involve Frankfurt’s urban society in cultural policy issues in the future?
2nd In your opinion, what formats would be suitable to promote a city-wide exchange between those who are active in cultural education and politicians?
3rd What formats do you think would be suitable for promoting an exchange between culture and politics? What topics and issues should be discussed? Could a cultural advisory committee be useful for example? What areas of expert knowledge should it combine, if any, and what function should it fulfil?
