Workshop #13:

Spaces for Art and Culture

 Fully booked: 17 May 2023 ∙ 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. ∙ online

Additional date: 17 May 2023, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. ∙ online

Across all artistic disciplines, there is a shortage of attractive performance and rehearsal rooms in Frankfurt. The city’s high-density area and the great demand for real estate for a wide range of uses make it difficult to find spaces for art and culture. Innovative and forward-looking approaches are needed here to develop appropriate solutions for the individual sectors and needs despite the high pressure on the real estate market. In our workshop we will discuss the potential of the shared use of existing cultural spaces and the interim use of vacant property. In addition, we will look at the extent to which multifunctional availability should play a role when developing cultural venues and how culture could be better integrated into urban and neighbourhood development in the future.

This kep.workshop will address the following questions:

1st In your view, what approaches would be suitable to improve the situation of rehearsal spaces in the field of performing arts? How could the present state of affairs of dance and theatre performance spaces designated for children and adolescents be improved?

2nd From your point of view, what approaches would be suitable to improve the situation of exhibition spaces for Frankfurt artists as well as studio spaces?

3rd What approaches do you think are suitable to improve the situation of event spaces and rehearsal possibilities in the music sector?

4th From your point of view, what approaches are suitable to improve the current circumstances of event spaces for film festivals and film presentations?

5th In your view, what approaches are suitable to improve the situation of event spaces for literary festivals and readings?
